What is a cat? A cat is warm purriness on a sad and lonely day. A cat is leaping fun during the day and sometimes, unfortunately, at night. A cat is a companion, a friend, or a mischief maker who causes catastrophe.
But mostly, a cat makes me smile. Often.
I just came upon this 2019 article discussing cat meows. Cats use them to communicate with humans; meows are otherwise more of a kitten sound I loved the discussion. https://sciencenorway.no/animal-kingdom-communication/your-cat-meows-mostly-for-you/1578244

I have now discovered a whole new industry: videos on television designed for cats. Who knew? Maybe a lot of cat owners. My cat used to try and pick figure skaters off the television set when I was watching Olympic figure skating, so I guess that makes sense….
But I was still amused to find these. If your cat loves them, please let me know.

I had no idea that George Balanchine was featured in a book about a dancing cat. The photographs in this article are truly delightful: https://www.nypl.org/blog/2022/02/15/george-balanchine-dancing-cat-mourka
