Today the sidewalks turned slippery as the temperature dropped. The walks looked clear, but occasionally a step would skid sideways. I’d flail to keep myself upright and walk carefully for awhile until my footing stayed solid and the walk looked clear. Then another slip…
Life is like that. You move along and all seems well until a mishap occurs. An accident, a crisis with family, a problem at work. We’re knocked off balance and we promise ourselves to tread more carefully. We do for awhile, falling into complacency. Then fortune strikes again–good or bad, and our world swirls. Maybe we fall and bang our knees or hands or head.
If only we rejoiced in the calm everyday, we could build up a reservoir of resilience to draw upon when our lives are upset. Let’s focus on maintaing our balance. Have more than one friend ,more than one hobby, more than one goal you’re working toward. If so, one will probably being going well while another is flailing. Um, failing.
Start giving your life some extra support.
