Mid-week, Mid-work

Monday has one kind of feeling, Friday another, at least for me, since I work a traditional five-day week. Thursday is getting close to Friday, Tuesday is the day after I get caught up on whatever came in over the weekend. But what’s Wednesday?

Wednesday is the middle of the week. Not close to ending the week, not time to start a big, new project, just kind of a keep-going day. On the other hand, Wednesday can be a breather. Though I might not pick mid-week to stat a new project, I can pick Wednesday to dig in for the last two weekdays and finish a lower priority project I now have time for.

Jobs seem to have rush days and slow days. Either things go wrong and lots of customers need help urgently or else everything moves smoothly and you have a chance to dig into the things that wait for time to do them. Monday always seems to be a crunch day. Friday is often a slower day with co-workers and customers not working as hard–unless a crisis arrives. Then it can be a scramble to find people to address it.

The more I think about it, the more it seems to me that days of the week have personalities. Wednesday would be the shy person who thinks a lot but doesn’t talk. Monday is the chatterbox with everyone coming back and digging into things. Friday is the laid-back surfer dude already on weekend time. Tuesday, well, Tuesday is the earnest striver who wants to wrap things up and get back to normal. Thursday? Well, I’m struggling for a Thursday personality. Maybe overlooked wallflower because people are rushing on toward Friday.
