I said winter was coming, but I didn’t expect Halloween snow. I’m told this was the second largest Halloween snow in Minneota history–of course, the last one was a blizzard and this was a few inches. The snow melted off the roadways relatively quickly, but the morning commute was icy and dicy.
We’re now below freezing some of the time and warming up to above freezing most days. Plants are losing their pretty colors and going drab, on the way to winter white. People are pulling out their cold weather coats and fuzzy socks, and I added snow brushes to my trunk. Minnesota does have change of seasons for people as well as trees.
I’m still working on my short story collection .The process is longer and more complicated than I’d hoped, but I still want to have that book in print to curl up with. Winters are for soups, stews, and hot food while summer gets salads and quick sandwiches. I wonder whether less seasonal parts of the country have seasonal menu changes? Or seasonal activity changes? It’s skiing verus swimming here in Minnesota, gardening versus snow shoveling. Some of us get more active in the winter while othes hibernate with good books.
I’m a good book hibernator and am fortunately well stocked for the bad weather days.
